In response to market demand, manufacturers of renovation paints have introduced a special type of insulating primer with high adhesion - Sealer. This product can be applied directly to the old paintwork without the time-consuming process of sanding. Applying the sealer creates an insulating layer that allows new layers of paint to bond perfectly with the surface. By using this product, we can change the colour of the car in a single painting operation.

Usually, the primer is transparent and therefore does not create so-called ‘dust’ that can be seen on the edges of the paintwork in hard-to-reach places. This saves time on masking and taping. Selected types of primer can be pre-tinted (e.g. CP 363 Multisealer by Profix). In this case, for colours with low coverage, you can add Aqua 2G basecoat or Acryl acrylic paint in a quantity of 5% to the mixture.

How to use it?

Let's start by assessing the varnished surface. If, after washing the car thoroughly, there are no visible defects in the bodywork, rust or scratches and dents, we have the green light to apply the primer. It is very important to remove all kinds of waxes, ceramic or Teflon coatings from the surface. The first step that affects adhesion is degreasing the surface.

This allows us to avoid basic paint defects that would compromise our final result. We can apply the Sealer primer to the prepared surface in a single coat, then apply a coloured coat using the wet-on-wet method. At this stage, it is up to you whether you use a 1K base coat or a 2K acrylic coat.

Where to use it?

The widespread use of this type of primer can be seen in the colour change of car fleets. In this case, a quick and thorough painting process is essential, which is made much easier by the use of an insulating primer.

Another type of paint repair where a sealer can be used is on heavy equipment used in various fields. Painting a tractor or excavator is very difficult and time-consuming because of the elements that are difficult to sand. A sealer helps to avoid this part, and in return, we get a perfect result.

This primer is also one of the products that meet high environmental protection requirements (e.g. CP 363 Multiseller), it is chromate and lead-free. This modern wet-on-wet primer also has anti-corrosion properties.
